ABOUT: Chasing Notes is a documentary about film composing told from a perspective rarely seen -- and heard -- before. Follow emerging film composer Jaymee Carpenter on his journey to write music for Hollywood’s biggest films after having to overcome his own dark past -- one that he feels grateful to have survived -- and traversing the exceedingly bumpy road to success, with he and his family hanging on sometimes by only a thread. Having little work experience other than music, finding a regular “day job” is not a practical choice; success as a film composer is his top priority. With his family often teetering on the brink of financial collapse, Jaymee puts everything on the line for Chasing Notes, including scoring his own life story as a means to share his journey with you. Set against this dramatic real-life tale, are interviews from high-profile film composers who have established themselves in the industry and seek to hold their ground. Interviews include Harry Gregson-Williams (Prometheus, Narnia), Marco Beltrami (Scream, Hellboy), George S. Clinton (Austin Powers), John Ottman (Valkyrie, X-Men 2), Greg Edmonson (Firefly), Christophe Beck (The Muppets), Nathan Barr (True Blood), Theodore Shapiro (Marley and Me), Christopher Young (The Rum Diaries) and many more.
